RIGHT OF WAY |
| 1. A road marked on the map does not automatically confer right of way. When in doubt, ask the appropriate authority or refer to a highly detailed map. |
| 2. Access to land varies from country to country. Make yourself familiar with the appropriate regulations for the country you are traveling in. |
| 3. Always seek permission to cross private land. |
| 4. Use demarcated entry and exit points. |
| |
|
| |
Always stop and observe an obstacle, walk it, observe it again before you attempt to drive it. If you don't want to walk it, don't drive it! |

Your off-roader is the ultimate adventure vehicle, so make sure you don't just drive it on tarmac! Try venturing down the road less-travelled. We have designed a course which covers both the practical and theoretical aspects of off-roading and at the same time teach you about the conservation of both the fauna and flora surrounding us.
The course has been specifically tailored for Southern African conditions. It was developed by Protea in response to off-roaders wanting to maximise their enjoyment whilst off-roading on a wide variety of terrain and varying conditions. The training is personalised (maximum of 20 drivers per course), interactive and takes place in a Krugersdorp Game Reserve on natural terrain. We boast some of the most dramatic and rugged wilderness areas in Gauteng, which makes it a perfect environment to learn more about your vehicle and its amazing capabilities.
Our off-road eco-training course is designed to help you practice with others so that you can improve your off-road driving abilities. We offer one-day intensive driver training course for Mitsubishi, Chrysler Jeep and Dodge as well as for all other vehicle manufacturers.
It is an adventurous and fun day out for you and your family to enjoy with interaction between the family and loads of fun. Off-roading is about the family and the joy it brings, the understanding and appreciation of negotiating the road less-travelled. The course is suitable for all types of off-road vehicles including 4x4’s, 4x2’s and also soft-roaders (vehicles without low range). |

THE OFF-ROAD CODE
Driving your 4x4 vehicle off-road should be an exhilarating experience – and one that you can enjoy responsibly if you follow the Off-Road Code:
|
| 1. Tread lightly to minimize erosion and scarring of the landscape. |
| 2. Respect the locals, fauna and flora. |
| 3. Respect the peace and tranquility of others. |
| 4. Observe fire restrictions. |
| 5. Use old fireplaces and campsites. |
| |
 |
| |
Follow this code and you will have an enjoyable 4x4 experience. |
| |
|
| 1. Wildlife and domestic animals have right of way! All animals can be alarmed by a vehicle, so be prepared to proceed very slowly, or to switch off your engine and wait. |
| 2. Never follow or pursue animals seeing as some tend to run in front of a vehicle rather than moving off to the side. |
| 3. Watch out for creatures basking in the sun on the open road. |
| 4. In poor light, be careful not to daze animals with your headlights. |
| 5. To avoid excessive noise, use high revs only where necessary. |
| 6. As slowly as possible, but as fast as necessary. |
| |
LITTER |
| 1. Remove all litter |
| 2. Always bring back what you take with you. |
| 3. Avoid making dust. |
